Advanced Courses

Advanced courses differ from basic courses in that they have a higher teaching load. An advanced course is taught for five hours a week, a basic course for three hours.

In order to achieve the Abitur, all students choose two advanced courses for the last two school years.

At Carl-Humann-Gymnasium, we offer advanced courses in all four subject areas – mathematics, science, languages, social studies and the arts. Depending on the choices made by our students, we regularly offer advanced courses in the following subjects, for example:

German
English
Biology
Mathematics
Computer Science
History of Science
Social Sciences
Pedagogy
Physics
Art

We cooperate closely with the Gymnasium an der Wolfkuhle in order to be able to offer the widest possible range of advanced courses.

In the final school year, all students go on a study trip with one of their advanced courses to destinations that are related to the content of the course. The course trips are extremely popular as final school trips and ensure a deeper connection with their group and the school.
